LION GEAR FILTER MAINTENANCE
To lengthen the life of the filter , avoid from filtering turbid or cloudy water or caused by large particles that are generally invisible to the naked eye in the water.
The more turbid the water is , the more often you will need to clean the filter by maintenance steps provided.
Should you have no option in an emergency or survival situation , it will still function to optimum capacity but your water low rate will be diminished
However , the next moment you find a a nearby clean river or stream , or even a tap . Rinse the filter either a under the tap or syringe, it will be will restored.
Be sure to rinse with at least 1 -2 litres of CLEAN water to restore your flow rate. However if the water is still appearing to be cloudy after to rinsing , repeat the steps until water is clear.
Step 1 – You will know that your filter needs cleaning when you notice the flow rate has significantly decreased.
This occurs over time, regardless of the turbidity of your water source.
However, If maintained and rinsed when needed, will ultimately extend the life of your filter.
Step 2 - Be sure to set aside about 1 -2 literes of CLEAN water
Step 3 – Using the Flush Syringe
Fill the syringe with CLEAN water that you have set aside and flush the filter in the direction of the arrow showing on the filter.
Ensure that water is clear when flowing through the filter during flushing.
AT ALL TIMES DO NOT DRINK FLUSHED WATER
Further steps How to -flush the filter
With the filter disconnected from the rubber tubing, place the end of the plastic syringe into the opening at the bottom of the plastic filter housing and squeeze water out of the syringe and into the filter.
This forces clean water backwards through the filter, flushing sediment and contaminants out the other end.
Repeat this process several times until the water that comes out is clear and clean.
If in an event of a emergency situation, the filter is capable to filter water ongoing over +3500 L
However if left unused in an un-flushed state ,over a lengthy period . It could reduce the life of the filter.
Before use , Rinse it well to ensure water is clean and clear for next use.
